Hi gr8ful69 I have done quite a few drive replacements on these devices and the replacement is very easy. Just switch out the drive, and as Jon said I would recommend the WD Red (as they are made for using in a NAS) It should start rebuilding and if not then the Lenovo/EMC Monitor app should tell you and from there you can start the rebuild. Once done then shut down and replace the working drive with another WD Red and let that one rebuild then you will get good reliability with the WD drives and the max speed that the IX2 can give (which is only Sata II unfortunately but with them running as Raid 1 it's not an issue) Good luck.
