I need new tyres for my Mercedes-Benz C-Class C200 (W203), but I have a bit of a problem with the sizing. The C200 I bought a couple of years ago came with 205/65/R15 Michelins on stock rims, but the spare rim had a 195/65R15 Goodyear. I know that the spare tires are sometimes smaller—either because it's lighter and saves space or the manufacturer decided to save cost—but I don't know if that's the case with the C200.

I saw the tyre upsizing chart xls file in another post, which states that the stock C200 is 195/65R15, which means the previous owner probably upsized the main tyres. However, the same upsizing chart also states that the recommended upsize for 15' wheels is 205/60R15. The size profile in the xls is 5% lower than the one that's already in my car. If you own a 2003 C200 W203, can you tell me what your original tyre size is or was? If you know someone else who owns this model, can you check with him/her? I've driven for two years on the 205/65s and, while I can't complain about the ride comfort or the noise (it's been extremely smooth and quiet), I'd like to consider going back to stock to see if it improves handling and FE.

I'm thinking of upgrading it to 245/45 R17. Is it wise to do so? Pros of upgrading to 245/45 R17 (from what I have been guided anyway): - Better grip.

- Better Handling. - Slightly bigger tyre sidewall to decrease chances of damage to the alloys. (if we calculate 45% of 245 as compared to 45% of 225) - Slightly improved comfort. I have been looking online and these ones suite the pocket at this point: Hankook - Ventus V12 Evo Pirelli - P7 Cinturato Yokohama Advan Sport Bridgestone - B 290 All these tyres are roughly 8000-8500k each (online prices), Bridgestone is slightly cheaper but the are specifically designed for India so I am assuming there must be some advantage to those as well?
