This is a Lenovo Thinkpad X201 12.1' Laptop i5-560M 2.67Ghz 4GB RAM 320GB. ( no warranty); AC adapter: Yes; Windows 7 pro OA sticker; OS: Ubuntu 14.04. Large OEM manufacturers, like Lenovo, use master key to activate Windows, instead of the COA key on your computer. From what I gather, Microsoft disabled online activation from the COA key because it could be misused to activate some other computer. This leaves phone activation as the only option. What is 'Windows 7 Pro OA' COA?
Hey guys im trying to reinstall windows 7 OA on a new lenovo x201 that i just bought i dont want to try installing it only to find that i cant use the key that came with the computer, windows 7 pro 64 bit came preinstalled and i want to keep that version (and key) from the manufacturer on the laptop i have had problems in the past with the reinstalls on machines that had OEM verions of windows preinstalled on the box. Will i be able to use the license on the bottom of the computer if i get a copy of windows 7 pro? Will i need an 'oa' (what is that anyway?) version?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks. The easiest way is to use a Lenovo Win7 disc. If you do not have one and cannot obtain a Win7 disc through support, you can use the following instructions.
I know Dell provides Win7 OS only discs free of charge under warranty. You should check w/ Lenovo.
If you do not have a Lenovo Win7 disk, you can use any non-manufacturer branded Windows 7 disk. That is, don't use Dell or HP brand disks because computer manufacturers put customizations on their disks which may cause unintended effects on your Lenovo.
Some disks are locked to a specific version of Win7. To check if it is version locked, look for the file x: sources ei.cfg inside the DVD. This is a plain text file and you can open it with notepad or your favorite text editor to see the version. If no such file exists, you will be prompted to choose the version during the installation. I, personally, have not come across a disk without this file. Remove this file to unlock the disk.
You'll need something like PowerISO to edit the contents and make an ISO image without the ei.cfg file. PowerISO is not free, but at the same time, I'm not aware of any free software that can edit and rebuild an ISO file. While many applications can open an ISO and let you extract contents, only a few applications will allow you to edit an ISO. Next, download Magic Jelly Bean from: Download the ZIP file because it does not require installation.
Run the application and copy down your Win7 key either in a text file or write it somewhere. Copy it to a text file will be easier for later on. Copy the following file to a location where you can retrieve it after the re-installation C: Windows ServiceProfiles NetworkSe rvice AppD ata Roamin g Microsof t Software Protection Platform t okens.dat Ensure that you have the key and tokens.dat file in a safe location so you can retrieve them afterwards. Run the install process from your Win7 disc. If you are prompted to put a key during, do not insert a key and choose to install the exact same version as you had before, Pro, Home, Ultimate, etc. Once the installation is done, copy the tokens.dat file back to the same location where you found it earlier. Replace the existing tokens.dat file.
Open a command prompt as admin and type the following command to install the key you previously had: slmgr -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-etc-etc Wait until you have confirmation that the key is successfully installed then type the following to activate: slmgr -ato.
If anyone knows of a sign program for Mac or Windows that can import old Roland SignMate files please let me know! Roland plotter serial cable pinout. And yes, you can export out in Adobe Illustrator 5 format from SignMate, but these sometimes don't work properly. And adptors prob don't work. And then the buffer on this old plotter is prob too slow to work with faster Macs, etc.
Hey all, I just purchased a Lenovo Y470p, and am loving it minus the torrent of bloatware preloaded onto the system. I am generally well versed with how to do fresh installs to avoid that issue, however the laptop didn't come with recovery discs or a windows OEM disc and I have a couple of questions: 1. Iconics genesis 32 keygen music. If the laptop is loaded with Win 7 home premium OA, and the product key for the installation is typed on the bottom of the computer, can I use that SAME key with a seperate disc copy of Win 7 home premium so as to avoid all that bloatware? If that works, will the partition on which the squeaky clean OS is installed conflict with the Lenovo OneTouchRecovery partition? --> this is essentailly the partition that includes recovery files in order to restore the entire cmputer to factory defaults.
Probably won't use it, but it's nice to have and I don't want to mess with it. Thanks guys, JR. Hey guys, thanks for all the quick replies! I would typically just uninstall all of the bloatware manually, however I still would like to do a fresh OS install - most of the drivers for the laptop have been modified by Lenovo, and I'd prefer to have everything come straight from Intel, AMD, etc, without having to overwrite old drivers as I've read complaints of system instability when people do that with this system. It's not a huge hassle as I've done it many times before, however I still don't know if I can use the Win 7 OA key on the bottom of the laptop to activate a disc copy of Win7 acquired elsewhere.
