Hello, My activation problem has been resolved, however I am trying to understand how it was resolved. My laptop came with an OEM Win 7 key. I recently upgraded my laptop and did a clean install of 7 (not from recovery CDs), entered my Windows Product Key, but Activation failed. I figured its because of the hardware changes.

Then I tried the automated phone activation instructions, which I expected to fail, but it succeeded! I suspected Id have to talk to someone, explain that my PC had a hardwre change, but none of that was required.Anyone know what goes on behind the scenes of the phone activation?
